श्रावण महिना सुरु झाला कि उन पावसाशी लपंडाव खेळू लागतो. सह्याद्रीच्या रांगा, हिरव्या शाली नेसुन नटतात. रसिक भटके मात्र अस्वस्थ होतात. एकाच वेळेला कासची सड्यावरची रानफुले, कोकणातले पाहुणे नवरंग, खुज्या खंड्यासारखे सुंदर रानपक्षी, मढे घाटातले महाजलप्रपात, हरिश्चंद्रगडावरचा फुलांचा सोहळा, कस्तुर पक्ष्यांची धुक्यातली महफिल, महाबळेश्वरातला तुफान पाउस, राजमाचीच्या ओढ्यातली पाण्याची ओढ व इतर असंख्य आमंत्रणाची मनात गर्दी होते.

In the month of "Sraavaan" (Marathi calender, roughly August/September in English Calender), the pattern of monsoon suddenly changes.
The intermittent rains and sunshine poses great opertunities for the photographers and the avid wanderers.
Ranges of Sahyadri change their makeup with beautiful green dress dotted with lovely colorful wildflowers.
The nature lovers of the region, get confused due to sudden invitations from various wildflowers, birds, rain spectacles, magnificent waterfalls,
misty rainforests from all across the western ghats.

| The objects of desire brought by humans
|
|
The plastic and glass bottles spread all over the platue and some irresponsible driving pose threats to the delicate platue.
Large number of tourists visit the place during the monsoon, particularly after August. The visitors include hobby photographers, general tourists, botanists and botany students.
Most of the people visiting here are aware of the importance of the platue. However some of them pose great threat to the plants.
Though the visitors help spreading the awareness of the biodiversity of the region, they also invite the unwanted attention causing destruction and commercialisation.

| कुंपणच शेत खाणार अशी परिस्थिती महाराष्ट्रात सर्वत्र आढळते. कास पठार याला अपवाद नाही.
|
|
प्लॅस्टिक कचरा, काचेच्या बाटल्या व बेफिकिर वाहनांमुळे कास च्या पठारावर ताण पडतो. येथे भेट देणारे सर्व पर्यटक, छायाचित्रकार व हौशी होतकरु वनस्पतीशास्त्री यांनी येथील वनस्पतींना दुखापत करु नये. दुर्मिळ वनस्पतींचे संरक्षण करणे हे प्रत्येकाने मनात ठेवणे महत्वाचे आहे.

The platue is dotted with Utricularia Pupurascenes. The tiny flowers are purple in color. This plant is insectivorous.
It is seen mainly on lateritic platues.

श्रावण सरु लागला कि येथील सड्यावर उभी सीतेच्या आसवांची रोपटी फुलांनी बहरुन जातात. जांभळी फुले डोलू लागतात. या फुलांचा आकार वेगवान वार्याचा प्रतिरोध करु शकेल असा असतो. कमी जीवनसत्वे असलेल्या जमिनीवर या वनस्पती वेळ प्रसंगी सुक्ष्म जीवाणूंवर जगतात.

सातारा शहरातून जाणारा रस्ता हिरव्या गालिच्यावरुन नागमोडी वळणे घेत, पठाराच्या कुशीतील रानात शिरतो, तेंव्हा मन मंत्रमुग्ध होते. जतन व्हावे असा हा निसर्गाचा ठेवा आहे.

पश्चिमेकडून येणारे वारे पठारावरील झाडांना पूर्व दिशेस झुकवतात.

The narrow road has been built over the platue to meet the transportation needs of villages in Bamanoli region.
In Monsoon the road is often crowded by the tourist vehicles. These excess vehicles encroach the roadside sometimes leaving scars on the platue.
The platue with so many critical species do not deserve these scars from humans.

सातारा शहरापासून बामणोली परिसराकडे जाणारा रस्ता कास पठारावरुन जातो. या मार्गावर तुरळक वाहतुक असते. पावसाळ्यात मात्र येथे पर्यटक वाहनांची झुंबड होते. उत्साहाच्या भरात अनवधानाने या वाहनांमुळे येथे पठाराचे नुकसान होते.
पठारावर खाजगी वाहनांवर प्रतिबंध घालून, सरकारी लाल डब्बा (एस टी), निसर्गाचे थोडे ऋण फेडू शकतो. पण कोण जागे करणार थंड प्रशाननाला ?

The platue is known for some rare and unique wildflowers and plants. The terrestrial herb of Pachgani habenaria orchid is occasionally seen on lateritic platues in this region.

पठारावर दुर्मिळ पाचगणी हबे आमरी आढळते. या सारख्या ३५ ते ४० जातीच्या दुर्मिळ वनस्पतीं मुळे, या पठाराचे जतन करणे महत्वाचे आहे.

Though the flowers are bright creamy white in color, the new flowers are greenish and the old flowers at the bottom turn dark brown.

These plants are seen on grasland. The plant is parasitic in nature. The tube of the flowers is slender and funnel shaped, like trumpet.
The flower is known as Tutari meaning "Trumpet" in Marathi. The flower opens in night.
